Our body will always respond to any stress, strain, or trauma by rushing inflammatory cells to the site, known as cytokines. The cytokines are rushed in an effort to heal or protect against the strain, however, they do cause pain in that process.
This same principle applies to training, as we use muscles and exhaust our ligaments and joints. This pain can inhibit our progress as it is difficult to overcome soreness to return to training and/or the fear of injury. Therefore, it is extremely important to address the inflammation, and not just the pain.
Many topical products serve well to “distract” the pain with heating or cooling effects, however do nothing for the long term recovery and healing. Plant-based ingredients have shown much promise in filling this gap, by inhibiting the inflammation and expediting recovery. Products that can address both pain and inflammation together can work wonders for fitness enthusiasts, enabling them to train harder and return back to action faster – pain free!
